As part of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg, Weissach and Flacht were merged into a single municipality on December 1, 1971 based on a voluntary agreement. With Weissach, Flacht became part of the Böblingen district in 1973. Between 1972 and 1990, Flacht's population increased by around 66% (from 1,607 to 2,664). As with the parent municipality of Weissach, the establishment of the Porsche development center in the municipality played a key role in the positive development. Investment in infrastructure (expansion of the water supply, schools, kindergartens) led to an increased demand for building plots. Land consolidation began in Flacht in 1976 and was formally completed in 2009.
