The northern part is a bit quieter than its southern counterpart. But all that is in walking distance or within a 5 minutes cab ride if you like. Friedrichshain itself is located in between other famous districts like Mitte, Kreuzberg or Prenzlauer Berg. Public transportation works pretty much 24/7...
