The network of subway lines is particularly strong in Kreuzberg. Line U2 tangents the district in the west and stops at Gleisdreieck. The U1 and U3 lines largely follow the street layout of the former Aczisemauer, the city boundary of Berlin in the 18th and 19th centuries. In north-south direction the lines U6 and U8 cross the district. The U7 line also runs in an east-west direction and offers an alternative route to the U1/U3.
